We are glad that you smile a lot!! Over time, smiling, laughing and other facial expressions cause fine lines around our eyes, the glabellas or the forehead.  Botulinum toxin (Brand names Botox or Xeomin) are used to temporarily paralyze the facial muscles that cause these expressions. This results in reducing the development of fine lines and wrinkles in these areas.  Dr. Farhina Imtiaz uses Botox and Xeomin in her practice to reduce fine lines and wrinkles for her patients in Cypress, Katy, Sugarland, Houston and surrounding neighborhoods. 

How is Botox (or Xeomin) treatment performed?

A series of precise, small injections using very small needles (thinner than a strand of hair) are used to delivery specific amounts of Botulinum toxin to the intended muscle.  This results in temporary paralysis of these muscles. As a result, you will not be able to make the facial expressions that led to the wrinkles while it is active. There is no down time from this procedure and you can resume routine activity.  

Does Botox or Xeomin hurt?

Due to Dr. Imtiaz’s skill and experience, most patients do not experience pain during this procedure.  No specific pain medication is needed by most patients. If requested, local numbing cream, nerve blocks or inhaled medications are available for use.

How long does Botox or Xeomin last?

These treatments typically last about 3-4 months.  Dr. Imtiaz recommends that you schedule the treatments every 3-4 months. Over time you will notice that not only do the lines disappear, but due to atrophy of the muscles in the area, you may need less product.
